"The growth in outsourcing of personnel has had a noticeable impact on the hiring numbers," said Associate Professor Frank Pallone Jr. from the University of Rochester.
Marketing and Outsourcing
According to James Smith, Senior Vice President of New Business Development at New York based staffing firm Randstad Sourceright, North American companies continue to invest in outsourcing activities. Randstad Sourceright's clients include Apple, IBM, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley.
An interesting trend in 2017 is that there has been a more aggressive push by some to hire without external agencies. Brian Slattery, Chief Operating Officer at the staffing firm Robert Half International said that "seeking subcontractors has become the new norm, not the exception".
He stated that as the economy evolves and other "low-end" occupations become less prevalent, more companies seek to place managers, general managers, supervisors and entry level managers in roles previously handled by low-end workers.
"We expect this trend to continue as jobs are offered to candidates in the 80th percentile of their salary range, rather than the top of their pay range," he added.
For those who have the ability, outsourcing of jobs can be a safer, more effective solution. However, if you don't have the skills or experience, finding the right agency can be a challenge.
